"If Pepsi is banned in India, I would go to the US and drink it� - SRK in 2006. This shows that SRK is nothing but a money minded freak who'll do anything for big bucks.
"SRK was cleared in 66 minutes, say US officials". This shows the true picture of the incident and whatever happened was routine and nothing was intended to single out SRK.
"I was questioned for two hours"- SRK. This shows the dishonesty and exaggeration of the incident, which the actor feels has hurt his ego. It's like "Mommy! US has pinched me OOOOO"
"I don't feel like stepping on American soil any more, but it is the love and affection of millions of his fans in the US which would bring him to this country again and again." - SRK. It's like "I don't feel like eating Ice-cream anymore. But since you all fans want me to eat it, I'm gonna eat it again and again"
"Cabinet minister suggested a "tit-for-tat" policy toward Americans traveling to India". This shows that we don't have any brains of our own and a "tit-for-tat" policy is intended more as a revenge rather than a matter of national security.
"Angry fans in the northern city of Allahabad shouted anti-U.S. slogans and burned an American flag." This shows the ignorance, illiteracy and hero worship that's rampant in India.

Moreover SRK visit to US was purely personal to promote his film and has got nothing to do with govt. of India.

Thanks for Sharing. I watch Indian Politics very very closely, but haven't heard of him till today, Indian media is too obsessed with Rahul Gandhi and Sarkozy. They don't have time for real people...
My vote is for Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan. He has done good things as a doctor and then as a collector in AP.
Of course he stands no chance, but I think he started a movement (grassroots) - hopefully it is the beginning of some positive change.

now that we have 13 pages of discussion ..can we agree on something and start small campaigns atleast ???
that way we can generate more interest in IV.
we can do something indirect too ..such as contacting your realtors ..show interest in buying and then back off ..the advantage in this (if large number of people take part and each contact 4-5 realtors) ..then we will have someone else lobbying for us (rather than ourselves beating our own drum)
if someone has better idea then we can go for that too
that way we can generate more interest in IV.

If you join Microsoft , you might get less salary but they pay your insurance 100%. Is microsoft selling insurance to you?? its just a benefit/perk being an employee of microsoft.
same thing here too... pre-approved labor is just a perk/benefit offered by employer to hire you with less salary. so if you think you sacrificed your salary to get to cut the line for getting GC then you are thinking right.if not please stop thinking like socialist.

An additional thing I want to point out is that the US cannot make itself diverse by restricting immigration to a diverse population mix. It is a well known fact that Hispanic american women bear many more children than Caucasian american women. How does america fix that, and if it does not then why talk about diversity in immigration?

Well, if there is a cap for GCs then there should also be a cap on the number of H-1Bs that can be taken up by a country. There should be a cap on the number of allowable F-1 visas to a country. There should be a cap on number of employees of a particular nationality in an organization. There should be a separate line for different nationalities in supermarkets. Fair? Happy?
Btw, why is there no cap on H-1Bs or F-1s and only for GCs?
Everyone lets not continue this discussion because it is going beyond what IV is about. IV core's solution is the pragmatic one helping all EB. Lets direct our energy on the action items.
Mail in the letters by month end. Already few thousand letters are in. So, lets continue with the momentum. Efforts by IV and its members have already succeeded in fixing MI DL issue. Lets work on the positives. EB3 ROW has jumped ahead, and fellow IVians would benefit. So, everyone its time to be happy.

There is difference... We didn't spend any money after June VB but everybody spent minimum $500 after July VB...

How about facts? In 2006, Philippines received 23,733 EB visas, India - 17,169. No other country received more. China received 9,484.

I think the folks who decided to file on their own are clearly the winners here because they have complete control over when the AOS gets filed. Folks like me who decided to go with the company law firm are clearly the biggest losers here because with all the added work load, the law firms are in complete disarray and can not guarantee anything about when the cases will be filed. The company law firm I am dealing with is in so much disarray that they have stopped taking phone calls and they wouldn’t even talk to me on the phone.
I have submitted all documents and filled out all their forms a while ago and I still haven't heard a word from them about whether they have received all the documents and when do they expect to file my case. Yet this is the law firm that probably charges 400 bucks an hour.

I suggest that you do this: Send the URL from AILA's memo about what happened to EB3-other worker category in June. And copy your HR and senior folks of your company when you email lawyer. That will tend to focus the attention of your lawfirm and they will either have to say "We will file asap" or they will have to say "AILA's memo doesnt mean anything".
I bet they will come back with the former conclusion.

My experience with amway - Very close friend of mine joined amway once he came to US, and within a few weeks, tried it on me. And at the end, he branded me as closed minded person when I said no many times. Forgot the 4 year friendship and never called me for the past 7 years. Oh well, my wife keeps telling me, those who don't understand us cannot be good friends. And after seven years, I agree...

I am very very skeptical about the claim that USCIS moved the dates to June 2006 in a random fashion. They could have moved it to Dec 2005, but they moved it to June 2006 because they have the ACTUAL GC numbers (unlike us:)) and they have an estimate of how many could be adjudicated.

People like you and I don't know that without a change in the laws, they won't get their greencards for another 10-20 years.
2) Lack of faith and understanding of the system
People like you and I, once they know that they are getting screwed, think that the situation is hopeless. They don't understand that the merits of our case (you alluded to them in your previous posts, the demographic shift due to the baby boomers retiring requires skilled labor in this country), is sufficient to warrant a sympathetic ear to us in the congress. We CAN freaking get out of the mess we are in.
We have to accept these two problems. And then we have to address them. How do we do that? Thats the big question.

Seriously I don't care - my personal opinion that in this particular case it is none of our ( India's ) business to meddle in Sri Lankan affairs when they are on the verge of getting rid of a menace they have . Terrorism is not a solution of anything . Only peaceful times can bring happiness and prosperity.
Really? Then why did India meddle in Pakistan affairs and liberated East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 70s? People should post only after reading complete SL history and how minorities were suppressed. One point of time GOI supported and funded and trained LTTE. The problem for India as well as Sri Lankan Tamils is lack of strong/tough/clever leader like Indra Gandhi. The problem for SL tamils are the "ego" of Prabakaran. He himself wants to be a only leader and not yielding to anyone and not willing to compramise. The LTTE is necessary evil to solve this issue. Without them, one can not find a peace solution. Though, they did lot of mistakes and criminal activites, they needed in negotiation. All political parties in TN and GOI is playin drama in view of election. I advocate talking to policymakers, writing to them, and calling in on any talkshow on the radio/tv - where ever there is an opportunity.
I am not sure if we can challenge the legality of the system. However, I do question the motivation behind this policy. It is morally and ethically wrong and does not make any economic sense. It is probably hurting the economy, if you get my drift. My thought is that it can be adressed by enlightening the very people who put this policy in place - the congressmen/women.
