Right now my parents in India are trying to seek help from local authority so as to say the ADM office - to get the certificate. I dont know how much this will work.........I will keep everyone posted.
Did you register the marriage in the first place (I am not sure if it is a requirement in India, although most people do register their marriage)? If you did, then you or your (or your wife's) parents should have a marriage certificate that you got at the time of your marriage.
Anyway, all you can do is to take the commonsense route:
(i) Try to get the marriage certificate. It should be easier to get marriage certificate than Birth certificate since it is a more recent event. Moreover, as far as I know marriage records are public records; anyone (and thus your parents) can get a copy of the record from the local municipality. It is probably the clerks who is asserting their *importance* at the crunch time by not giving you the certificate what they can find in 5-10 mins.
(ii) If you cannot get the certificate within the deadline, send whatever evidence you have; wedding photos/videos/invitations, affidavits from your and your wife's parents, etc.; and ask for additional time for getting the actual certificate. This ought to buy you a month or so.
A digressionary question: if you do not mind, could you kindly briefly state your qualifications (publications, citations, patents, grants, TPCs, etc.) and the list of evidence (e.g., how many letters and from whom) you supplied for your EB-1 application (I-140) [I am assuming that it is EB1-OR]? I will also be in that boat shortly...

Recent update from Murthy seems to confirm our theory that I-140 has to be approved to interfile
Interfiling Issues : Cannot Switch I-140 Petition from Primary to Dependent
MurthyDotCom
Interfiling is a procedure that allows an applicant to change the I-140 petition upon which the I-485 is based. Essentially, the I-485 is filed based on an I-140 petition, but the applicant wants to proceed through a new or different I-140 petition. Interfiling permits the individual to "switch" the I-140 upon which the I-485 is based.
MurthyDotCom
In a scenario where both husband and wife have independent I-140 petitions filed by their respective employers, and where there is a set of I-485s (one for the primary spouse and one for the derivative spouse) filed with regard to one of the I-140s, there is no option of interfiling based upon an I-140 approval for the derivative spouse. This is because the roles of derivative spouse and primary applicant would have to be reversed in this situation. There is no mechanism when interfiling to shift applications from derivative to primary and from primary to derivative, therefore making them improperly filed with the other I-140 petition. Of course, if the same person has an EB3 and now an EB2 I-140 petition, the USCIS will allow the EB2 I-140 approval to replace the previously-filed EB3 I-140 petition approval.

Thanks Paskal!
This is exactly the kind of communication we need from the core.
I concur with you all the way, if you look at this country's political history, all major bills passed through the election year. We have hope, this bill will pass. So please lets all remain positive and strive our efforts for our goals.
Also with the PM of INDIA coming this week and the talks on 123 agreement, I am positive something good is coming to all of us. This agreement will be the first important treaty between US & India.
Good luck to all IV members, thanks for all your contribution and help so for, lets keep positivity and our efforts aligned.
Thanks

Gurus,
Here is my situation:
I-140 approved - PD: May '06
I-485 filed - July 30 '07 (India)
EAD cards - Received
APs - Received
Due to a slowdown in their business, my employer is laying me off in Dec '07. I'm still short of 1 month to complete my 180 days of I-485 filling. However, they said they will not withdraw my I-140 and, to help me, will in fact keep me on their payroll until Jan '08, with my Jan '08 salary as my severance and my official status as on "paid leave". So far, so good.
I also have a job offer, and my new employer wants me to join them in Dec '07, on EAD. My question is: Can I be on officially on the payroll of two companies simultaneously on H-1B and/or EAD? If yes, do I need to inform the USCIS of my status (new employer; AC21)? My other option is to say No to the new (attractive) job offer (or to try to convince them to wait until Feb '08, which they'll likely not agree to), and and take up another job in Feb '08, on EAD / H-1B transfer, using AC21. Please advise whether I'm fine with using the first option!!
you can be on the payroll of 2 companies on H1 if the H1 petition says that its for concurrent employment. On EAD no such issues, you simply sign new I-9 forms with both employers.
If you are moving to EAD, you can start with second employer right now. If you are going to stick to H1 for some reason, then delay joining the new one by just a few weeks. By the time they file the H1 transfer and the approval comes through, your 180 days will be done or nearly done and you are all set. Its nice that your current employer is helping you out through the 180 days.

The diversity:
The common ground:
Justice for all.
It doesn't matter where we come from. The system unfair to everyone, and even more unfair to some.
It's not so important how much you contribute or how many posts you write in the forum.
It is more important that you spread the word and make people understand the problem.
It was very encouraging to see all at the rally and that people actually took time to read our signs and then agreed with us. Having US citizens join the rally is awesome! True American spirit!
I hope to see more people at the next rally. I can recommend it.
And remember:
"If you don't care about your own future, no one else will."

names with slave in it and with out immigration. How does they make sense to what we are doing here? We are neither slaves nor a social networking website. If you go and search the threads this came up an year ago and it was turned down because of what logiclife explained clearly. I have simply thought that a redirection of URL is enough. Its not true. We need quite a bit of paperwork to be done and it needs some knowledge and experience as well, which is more than suggesting a name change. More over, we have some brand value as IV for some time. Amidst all these highly inflammable bills, name changing can eat away precious time that can be dedicated to imp work.
How about we guys do the 2 things pappu keeps on emphasizing?
1) Meet with lawmakers
2) Contributions and get our friends to contribute.

Does she need her H4 approved to have her prospective employer file the I 129? (or) Can she just provide the notice of action she received for her H4 extension filing along with her I 129 to show that she is maintaining status?

I would consult an attorney to understand your residency status..
usually at the time of filing your tax you do declare your residency status (like you are a resident of X or Y state..(if i am not wrong)..]
I think its a legal loophole they are exploiting..sad;-(

Not to throw more rocks into the gears here.. But unless the S2 has been updated (which I don't follow really), it was using the chip that was in the Nikon D1 I believe?
If that is such the case, ISO800 is noisy and you can't really shoot above that.
Disregard this if it is newer tech and I'm completely off base.

If you have a project, there are companies who will keep $6 hr and 10% as payroll taxes.
Let me know, if you want more details.
P.S. I am not connected with the company, but I know people who worked in that company for years.
I know of a company which will keep $2 + 10% for payroll taxes. A lot better than the one above.
There is so much competetion in this space that people have reduced their margins to next to nothing.
