but even with this big announcement tomorrow, we still only have 140,000 visas and keep in mind USCIS has just been averaging about 100,000 per year. (so about 40,000 get wasted every year)
All all this does is to push the bottleneck further down the pipeline.
the only benefit I see is that it helps with filing of AP and EAD which does not help someone like me with my 485 already pending

I am not sure either way, however I have heard the FBI comment that they only flag a small fraction of cases. IF that is true, then the USCIS may just be using the FBI as an excuse.

Well according to NSC they have completed processing of I485s upto Aug 2006 RD. They take only one year (and often less) to process I485s.
Pending I485s with earlier RDs are due to two reasons 1) retrogression and/or 2) FBI namecheck incomplete.

I understand that the air time on the show can be very very limited. Probably a min or less. After discussing the VB fiasco, If Dr Bahrainwala gets a chance, He should strongly consider mentioning the root cause of the problem.

I got LUDs on 2/10 on both mine and my wife's 485. My wife got an RFE email on 02/13. I do not know what this means either...
Looks like lot of EB-3 applications who filed 485 at the end of june got LUDs last week, some with RFE and some just soft LUD.

Slight clarification to the new regulations:
Based on the "If they return from the USA after having used the visa" exemption, you don't need a transit visa for the USA-Germany-India leg. But for the return you'll either need an AP+transit visa OR a valid USA visa.
This exemption (and regulation) is the same as that for France. And I just traveled to India and back (in Dec2010) through Paris on expired USA visa and therefore know the above to be true (at least for France).

Don't give up but ALWAYS have a back up plan. If you are not interested in returning home, consider a second option like the Canadain PR status as plan B

Our goal from these meetings is simple: to get the issue on the radar.
Remember usually when lawmakers/lawmaker district office staff hear "immigration" they think "illegal immigration." Our presentation is usually the beginning of their education -- we have no expectation that they have "deep" or any knowledge of the nitty gritty.
All we want is that they send our material to their Immigration aide in DC, and recognize that there is an issue out there.
BTW, sbdol what volunteer team are you on?

USCIS will not look into your tax records for H1b approval. They might ask you for your previous H1b approval notices and or pay stubs but thats all. However when you go to the embassy for the stamping they might ask for tax returns.

I haven't got my FP either, No SR opened.
