Why NON GC holders DONOT want to buy houses ?
Category 1: Undecided & Playing safe
These are people who want to play Safe. Fair enough!! But at the same time I want to say that they should not assume that they are no more intelligent or smarter than people who bought houses. They just want to be playing safe until they make sure that they have some kind of assurances / stability in their life. In this case Green Card. I agree with all the points these categories people make but they have to realize that most the people who bought houses have passed this Category & have come to a decision because they already lost valuable time in their part of life. Its easy to play safe when you are in 20s but my question is for how long & at what price? Does any know when & if they will get their actually green cards? There are some who has the time & energy who can play safe but not many people has that quality time in their life to keep playing safe. Most of them are here 8 years or more & still waiting & they are already in Mid 30s. Yes these people will certainly wait if the govt says that you will get green in so & so year. If you look back if a family who immigrated in 2000 with a 5 year old kid almost killed their childrens career because we still havent come to conclusion where to settle. Satyam Employees who lost/loosing a job didnt need a GC but so many are in the verge of loosing their homes. Its the market conditions which is leading into these discussions. I have never heard people talking about this topic when the housing market was booming.
Just as people who bought houses respect your decision, you should also respect them on decisions they make because they chose to live a life which might be different than yours but most of them put their family first when they make these decisions & not for any material benefits.
One also has to understand that the people who bought the houses were in this category for a long time before they decided to buy a house.
Category 2: Money Money Money
These people do not want to buy houses not because they cannot afford or they want to play safe. They just dont want to spend. All they care is Saving, Saving, saving their entire life & keep filling their bank balances. Often strangely both couples are working. These are people who want to live in cheapest rent (even with double income) in single bedroom & they dont mind children sleeping in their bed room. They dont mind sending their children to low grade schools. They dont mind their in-Laws or parents when they visit sleeping in living room on the floor. Their intention to come into this country is only for earning money & because they dont have high ambitions & all they care is saving & not spending, they just think of saving in all possible ways. They call themselves rich because of bank balances but in my view they are poor than most of homeless guys who live out streets.
Category 3: Unaffordable
They simply cannot afford due to multiple reasons like single Income, financial obligations etc.

Add another Category 4: People who want "Peace of Mind".

What was your PD ,and wating time for I-140.(ie I-140 applied and approved date.)
OK I'm from ROW EB3. PD Apr 2003. 140 and 485 were filed concurrently in June 2004. I 140 was approved in 1 week (I guess because my son was aging out) and I-485 for all family were approved in June 2007.

I still see his old report there, including "The USCIS hands may be tied, should the EB visa numbers for FY 2007 is exhausted before the end of July."
What exactly has he removed?
My bad, it was WAYY down below and he had removed the links to it. I apologise for the mis-information.

You may think that your contribution does not matter as long as others contribute. You may think that your contribution cannot change anything. ... If you think so, then you are wrong.
Your contribution is critical to this organization! You contribution is important to yourself--the legal immigrant!
Let me tell you what will happen if you don't contribute now:
With the number of people who have contributed stabilizing at a low level, IV's lobbying will be very very limited.
Then people who have contributed would feel disappointed.
Sooner or later, those people would withdraw their contribution.
Eventually IV will be closed.
From then on, you, who don't contribute now, will have no organization to speak up for you.
From then on, you will complain your situation in your company, seeing your peers get promoted while you get stuck in the same position because of your GC application.
...
Maybe, at that time, you will say to yourself, "if I have contributed to IV in that special year, if all people like me have contributed, we would have get our GCs. Then, maybe, my life would have been totally different..."
Let me also tell you what you can lose if you contribute.
Your immigration status will NOT become worse, if it cannot get better.
The only thing you will lose is about $200 or less if you contribute $20/month. It will happen this year or never! If it does not happen this year, you can always withdraw your subscription.
I believe many people would pay $20,000 to buy a GC if possible. If IV brings 1% chance to help pass the bill, $200 is a very fair price! Besides, I believe the opportunity cost for people who has no GCs is probably more than $20,000 a year, considering a potential promotion or a job change. For those people, don't you think $200 is a very reasonable price to buy yourself a 1% chance?
Besides, the chance that IV brings to us is much much higher than 1%!
You are all high skilled workers. You can do this math very well!
So come one! Make contribution now or you may have no chance to make this great deal!
Very well said. Thank you. Wish more people think like you.

Since you dont have visa stamped on passport, H1B approval copy notarized would help. You should be fine entering both addresses and I have seen both addresses on my Passport on renewal.
Thanks for the info. I am planning to add my wife name by providing marriage certificate. Can i add my child name with his birth certificate. By not providing other address , can i avoid having US address on my passport.

Hello Susie,
My daughter accompanied me on H4 visa. My labor was approved in June 2006 and she turned 21 in July 2006. My I 140 was approved in Dec 2006. I have received valuable inputs from IV members and understand that she has aged out. I believe that things can be simplified if unmarried children under 21 who come as dependants of workers with dual intent visas or similar catagories are exempt from ageing out rules. This may avoid lengthy rules, computations, complex interpretations and possibly lawsuits.

I am very confused. First they retrogress and then they make it unavailable. How could they be in the dark with regards to the number of "approvable" applications!!!
The fact remains that there is no structured information available to anyone (even USCIS or DOS themselves) on Priority Dates. It is nothing more than a date written in ink on paper applications. Cutoff date movements are purely based on guess work. Centers work on cases in order they physically receive them (irrespective of their PD's). While approving if they find PD is not current, case is put aside and next one is taken up. In the past cutoff dates in July-Sep period were moved forward so that "put aside" are minimized (thereby maximizing efficiency), else their bosses will question for not using all visas.
Systems are not designed for managing cases based on PD's, hence the hotch potch we see.

Ombudsman Report: reference - Page 47
Finally, considering the data contained in the December
11, 2009 I-485 Inventory Report, the Ombudsman notes
that out of 141,019 EB-3 green card cases queued-up
worldwide, approximately 43 percent are chargeable to
India, and 64 percent of the cases with priority dates
before 2004 similarly are chargeable to India. Without
attempting to predict future EB-3 wait times, based on the
high percentage of applicants from India in queue, the data
suggest that many thousands of green card applicants of Indian nationality will be waiting years, if not decades, for
the approval of their green card cases.

I hear you! Easter lunch was too much, I did become a godmother on top of it all :)
:D Sorry, it's a Monday morning and I still have a "hang over" from over eating at Easter lunch yesterday. So I can't even type straight! LOL and in my defence I and O are right next to each other on the keypad. :D
Stillhopefull you have been current for a while, so they should be working on yours...one would think...I do believe Texas is behind though, according to the uscis web site Nebraska is processing July and Texas not yet.

What are your plays for tomorrow?
If I do not see nervousness in the markets then I think tomorrow I am going to buy Oracle, Wal-Mart, Devon and may be Cisco. Expected return by BOB's inauguration 10%.
For Novices - do not buy SMALL Cap and Do not buy stocks < $5 (as suggested by Chintu25)

This would actually be a good idea. Then there would be more Visas available. Especially people with US Degrees. Most people with US degrees dont need to work for this fraudulent consulting firms. They are able to find real jobs with real US employers.
Do you really belive that corporates will do all the pointers mentioned in the bill and hire a international student on H1B.
If this bill is enacted existing H1B's will be thrown out over the years, and by that times corporates want to hire a MS after doing all the pointers of this bill something else would come up to screw you.
