I think he can just talk the talk.. it takes backbone to walk the walk.
These people are causing fissures in the community for their petty self-interests... just by plain talk.. It took years to build it.. and we see some hope because of what IV has achieved and things that are in pipeline.
At this critical juncture, if people are causing rift in the community and trying to sabotage our campaigns then such people need to be challenged.
if we are united we can achieve a lot!
United we succeed and divided we fail!!
Dude,
Looks like Rolling_Flood has not yet voted on this poll. I thought he will be the first Yes for this poll.
Are you guys planning to file separate lawsuits?

Sorry if a thread already exist to track Lou Dobbs statements and speculations on CNN about Immigration and other issues. Looked around since yesterday but could not find any.
As Greg Siskind suggested,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The best thing I think you can do is to aggressively fact check him. He should be monitored every night and every statement in his immigration stories should be researched to determine accuracy. The most effective way he has been dealt with is the way 60 Minutes did it when they reported on some seriously incorrect statements he reported. He gets EXTREMELY defensive when he's questioned on his factual reporting.
It's hard to attack him just for his opinions. But CNN holds itself out as a credible news organizations and they are sensitive on these issues.
If there was a team of people who know immigration issues well and if we could find regular examples of false statements, I think the pressure would increase. Such documentation would also help for pursuing any efforts to get advertisers to pull out from the show."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Request members to post all the statements from Lou Dobbs on this thread. Also request members to run a fact check on his wild speculations and include them along.

Hello Leo,
Welcome to the forum. Glad to see that you are able to post messages.
Your input and suggestions are excellent. IV (Immigration Voice) is working on the exact things you pointed very clearly. We will together make the difference with the upcoming bill. IV is today 5 days old. I think IV has made very good progress in last 5 days given the fact that most people are in holidaying mood and not paying much attention. But there is a long way to go. I would urge you to please actively participate in discussions and other activities to spread the word around to your friends and family with the request that they as well send the same message to their friends. You could help by posting the flyer in the attached file in places like Indian/Chinese/Philipino stores/restaurants/other meeting places and request your friends to do the same. This is the first step towards creating awareness to bring everybody facing this problem on common platform.
I agree 100% that misinformation, stereotyping, unorganized campaign with hastily typed faxes/messages by individuals hurt us in S1932. There were a lot of motivated individuals but most of us were not unable to create a concrete strategy to make the dent in S1932 as there was not platform to join hands. We are all on H1s/EADs and facing severe problems due to retrogression. We are all learning as this campaign is picking up steam. The idea is to be more organized. We have received personal emails and phone calls from lot of motivated individuals spread all around the county. All of these individuals want to see solution to retrogression issue. We need more individuals to come forward to actively participate for this cause.
Please continue to provide your input and contribution for this cause. Please invite more individuals to participate on this forum. We are a very young organization and maybe after 6 months, once all this is over for good, we will look back and thank individuals like yourself whos encouraging words and support are so important for the success of this cause.

This is what I did -
1. Had my lawyer followup with consulate -they respond quickly to that.
2. Letter from congressman - congressman called consulate and i got a written reply from congressman on status in less than a week
3. Email followup with consulate
4. Calls to DOS - have to be on hold for a bit though..
Interview - Jan 3; 221g (pink) Phd in bio; additional info submitted - Jan 7th; consulate sent info to DOS - Jan 14th; DOS clearance - Jan 31st. Visa issued - Feb 6th...
Bpositive, thanks very much for the verification. At first, I thought my friend was just scaring me by suggesting the senator/congressman route, but seeing your case now I feel foolish as I should've been doing this in early January. I will check my status tomorrow (monday) with the Delhi consulate once more, and then, if need be (fingers crossed), will talk to my boss in Houston about your suggestions regarding congressman's letter. By the way, what if I call DOS tomorrow and they say the I've been cleared, would it still make sense to have congressman approach them? Too many questions, I know, but I guess you know this feeling. Thanks again.

You really cannot determine the achievable factor of a goal on a scale of 1 to 100 so that ordering is moot. In fact, there is some merit in keeping our most ambitious goals upfront - with enough support from the community we might just achieve them.
Point noted.

Does anyone know about the W2 form and 1040 tax return forms? I currently only have W2 and 1040 for the year 2006, but my lawyer says I need to submit the past three years. Is there any problem?

Hi I am not exactly in similar situation but still relevant in the context. I have labor and I-140 cleared but my wife is working in India and she may not be able to come back in order to file I-485 within a month or two. If I file I-485 for myself can I file for her later? What will be the consequences and what are the timelines? I have a valid H1 Extension till May 2010. Can she still get this extension stamped and return on H4 visa?

My $0.02. This could be a pre-emptive measure on the part of AILA. There must have been some talk at the state department of mid-month regression. This might be a strategy to scotch that. Raise a ruckus and send a message that we are prepared to file a law suit. Who knows? We are mere pawns in this grand game. Whatever happens, I hope people keep some perspective and not lose sleep over this.

I've been using Lingo for 3+ years, I called them to ask if they are aware(of course they are), rep said within a week they are coming up with a plan that's better than Vonage. unlimited calling to india and 100+ countries for $22.95. Plus i think they are going to include some free minutes every month that you can use to call india from your work or cell phone using a toll free or access # (just like you use Reliance).
Rep said you will receive an email in a week or so about the new offer/plan.
If you are already a Lingo customer I'd wait a week, Lingo has history of beating any competing plan.

Why would they think like that?, USCIS made a mistake. They tried to cover (by making visas unavailable) their ass to save their jobs. Thats why we have congress to help us out.
For USCIS its a bad publicity.
We have congress "helping us out" by doing WHAT exactly?? So far we have exactly ONE congresswoman who made a statement. After that no one has even BOTHERED to do anything.
It may be bad publicity for the USCIS, but guess what? NO ONE GIVES A S**T. The USCIS is an INDEPENDANT body and it made a MISTAKE. Everyone makes mistakes, remember?

I spoke to IO this morning regarding NC clearance for my family (7/2 filers). I was told whereas, my derivative's (wife and daughter) names have been cleared but there is no information on my clearance. She furthur told me the names were submitted on 8/30/07 and was told to wait for another month or so.
Guys: What is your take on this? I have started worrying now. Although they say 120 day processing time- My understanding is you are either cleared in few days or get stuck in the hole.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Disgruntled green card applicants from India sent hundreds of flowers to the U.S. immigration agency on Tuesday to protest a recent policy flip-flop that hurt their quest for permanent residency.
The campaign that directed around a thousand flower deliveries to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Emilio Gonzalez was modeled on a popular Indian film promoting the peaceful protest methods of Mahatma Gandhi.
The protest was inspired by the abrupt reversal last week of an announcement issued in June offering expedited processing of green card petitions for thousands of skilled foreign professionals working under H1-B visas.
Thousands of holders of H1-B visas -- reserved for skilled workers in computing, engineering and other special professions -- scrambled and spent money on lawyers and medical exams to prepare green card applications for a July 1 deadline.
The abrupt closure of this path to a green card -- proof of lawful permanent resident status -- sent the applicants back to the queue for 2008, when they will have to spend more time and money, organizers of the protest said.
"The gist of the campaign was to peacefully convey disappointment and concern at how things have evolved in the last month," said Sivakanth Mundru, a Virginia-based computer systems analyst who was affected by the policy.
FLOWERS SENT TO SOLDIERS
Gonzales said in a statement on the USCIS Web site that the agency would forward the flowers to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington, D.C., the main facilities treating U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"We welcome the fact that the director at least acknowledged this campaign and we are happy that our flowers will be bringing some color to our soldiers in those two medical hospitals," said Vikas Bajaj, a software developer in Wisconsin who helped organize the flower protest.
Although Indians staged the flower protest, the green card application setback affected skilled workers from China, Poland and many other countries.
Mundru and other activists said hundreds of thousands of people shared his state of limbo. Many were unwilling or unable to buy houses or start companies until their residency was secure, they said.
The situation of foreign professionals working in the United States while awaiting green cards was sidelined in this year's contentious immigration debate, which focused on illegal immigrants, Bajaj said by telephone from Wisconsin.
"We have never been in this country illegally, we are hard-working, we are skilled immigrants -- and yet very little space is devoted to our issues," he said.
"The irony is, in this whole migration debate, our issues are probably easiest to solve," said Bajaj.

I used the format below:
Dear Officer,
My case has been pending since September 2007. Below are the steps I have taken till now in order to get a decision on my case:
1: Initiated enquiry through my attorney.
2: Opened a service request with USCIS (Got an invalid response of no visa numbers available)
3: Made an Infopass appointment with an immigration officer.
None of the above has resulted in any clarity towards my case status.
Below are my case details- (Myself & spouse)-

Airtel call quality is really good and it's cheap compare to reliance....I stopped using reliance almost 3 years......if you pay 9.99+taxes will give you 600 minutes talk time and 45 days validity...I also used for australia and singapore, call quality was great...never had any problems...
Thanks. The 45 days validity period starts from the buying day or first use day?

Corruption in India called as Corruption and illegal there, but here you fools call it as lobbying. You know what When I started reading this thread I have some sympathy, but I will celebrate it now.
You know what having sex with mother and sisters, and with animals is not development (Don’t believe go and look at your mother, Son). You are in Stone Age fool.
Are you sure you are not confusing with Indian epics that discuss how Lord Brahma had sex with his own daughter? :D :D
Unfortunately, you are showing your culture here with responses like this by clearly proving that you are incapable of provding a proper response. You are not making any case here, actually you are undermining it. This clearly shows the contempt that you have for the people of the country where you are desparately trying to immigrate to.
If things were so rosy in India compared to US, you wouldn't be posting in this forum, will you?
As a matter of fact, people like you, irrespective of the qualifications, should never be allowed to immigrate to anywhere. You should remain in India or should I say "arsha-bharatha"?

Everyone that took part in the IV lobby day in September 2007 should get in touch with the lawmaker offices now and request them for letters. If you have met your local lawmaker offices through state chapters or on your own, it is time to visit them again for this request.

Bhai logon... mera bhi number aagaya... I got the the approval email and status changed to Decision (for me and my wife).
Best of luck for those waiting...
FYI: I opened SR on Aug 4th... Yesterday I got response that my GC is approved (but the status online was still Initial review) and now today morning my status changed and I got approval email and an SMS too.
Given the above, I seriously think SR works. They must have checked my SR and then approved my GC.
