I never thought that working for a contractor was something bad!! In fact, I was thinking that contracting is better than working full time! Am I missing something here???
I mean think about it... you get to work on different projects and you get to learn new stuff, new environments, new people!
Stay as a full timer and you don't grow (well not like a contractor anyways!). All in all, I think it takes more effort to be a contractor!
I guess it is a career choice! I personally would rather be a contractor!

Besides the fact that IV can try to help members in extreme situations like the one I am in, IV is really the only organization that watches out for our community, it is all we have. We need to be an active part of it and should make it stronger.

but advantages of CP vs AOS are completely besides the point as that decision is based on individual circumstances.
If you/IV want to lobby, lobby for EAD/AP for the guys whose 140 was approved and staying in US legally on a non-immigrant visa. This may be possible thro, USCIS regulation w/o law change.

Even I e-filed my AP 2 days ago (this is my first time not renewal thou). I wanted to know if I need to send 2 photographs and explanation on separate piece of paper.
Well, I also did a small mistake on the appl. I misplaced my first name and last name, I don't think this would be a problem thou...
Can somebody help me with this?
There is a question on part 7 of AP efiling. I guess, same question is also there in paper form as well. Could somebody please explain as to what to do about this. Here is the question:-
On a separate piece of paper, please explain how you would qualify for an Advance Parole and what circumstances warrant issuance of Advance Parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered. (See instructions.)

My employer is not giving copy of my I140. With out I140 how to port it to an other job/employer etc ?

My company, which is a big one with more than 9000 employees tried to do the same with me. I've to do some sweet talking with my paralegal to get a copy of I-140, which was sufficient. Although, later I realized it was a notice of action but I think that should work too. Since, my company filed my 485 I did not have to worry much about that.

and to your point, even i am not comparing any schools... i am just saying that there should be a quota for iim/iit grads...

lemme make it simple so that u understand, they have 20k quota for master's [donno how this idea was sold]. In those terms, selling the idea for having an additional quota for Master's students in GC should be relatively easier than any other campaign.

One important issue is over looked here. Small employers will have a tough time in proving I-140 "ability to pay" for employees with older PD�s, whose labor got cleared after Aug 17 from BEC. Cuz the company has to prove its "ability to pay" the proffered wage starting from the date PD is established continuing until the adjudication of I-140.
Suppose the PD for an employee is Oct 2001 and the proffered wage is 80K per annum, then the company should prove that its assets, net income or salary payments were >=80K starting from Oct2001 continuing until the adjudication of I-140.
This is indeed an acid test for small employers.
