They do not accept Indian 3 yr bachelors & 2/3years of Masters + 5 years for EB2. This has been discussed lot of times. They expect single 4 year degree.

Just take care if you are dealing with attorney who saying above thing.

Not sure whether you got a chance to ask the officer about the reason for this visit? Was it a part of random check or any investigation on fund transfers or any other program etc?
Now, I think it is a random check and nothing like 'employer audit'. I never asked him -at that time I thought it was a part of background check.
I believe they are always doing these checks probability could be 1/100,000 although i have no idea at the frequency.

This is what you can do - Both in Mumbai and in Delhi, you have USCIS approved doctors who help people going through CP. In other words those who choose to go through emp based CP or family based Green Card which US embassy issues, go through Indian hospitals in Mumbai and Delhi. I think Gangaram in Mumbai has this facility. Ask your wife to get it done from there. Do not wait till the last moment, as someone pointed out, a slight delay in flight could............
Note that for employment based adjustment of status cases, the medicals ABSOLUTELY have to be done in the US by a USCIS approved civil surgeon. One can get the immunizations done in their home country, however the exam has to be done in the US.

I think they might have thought that Grassley is like our Indian MPs and why should reply to him. They should have answered responsibly and tried to do some good faith efforts. Now it is paying time for their arrogance. Still Indian companies and Bodyshoppers are having time to change themselves. We need to wait and see whether they will change and forced to change.

If I was on the receivng end of that response; I would have thought that these guys are playing with me and by not answering the quesitons; then they are obviously trying to hide something. Therefore, I will attack them in another way to make them conform to the behaviour I want.

I think, it is a combination of three things.

2. No Accountability

On the top of it, the receipt date can be any time they want and not the date of receiving the date. It can become 120 days and when they say "days", it is like one of those commercials which says, " for only 1$ a day ...." instead of saying $365 which they charge for the whole year . subscription.

There was a soft LUD on mine as well as on my wife's I-485 :D. Mine was filed in NSC on July 2nd 2007 and transferred to CSC for receipts and transferred back to NSC :confused:. Currently mine is not within the priority date :confused: . Not sure why there is sudden LUD this month :eek:.

What if we used so much of our time and energy in finding jobs in India/China and moving back, instead of going after media/govt? :confused:
Some of us have spent $35-40 on sending flowers, if we gave a internet job board that kind of money to send our resumes to prospective employers and headhunters in India, we may have a chance in finding a job in the emerging economy of India/China.. that will be THE biggest impact on US Govt... To add to my opinion, I would like to direct your attention to Microsoft... They didn't waste their resources on fighting the media, govt.. they just moved to Canada.. And believe me, there will be more such instances...

I'm going to say this once more. As much as we try, we cannot bring the Indian community under one umbrella to act together. It's a pipe dream and not achievable. I've experienced every possible Indian specimen there is in the Bay Area. Indian community in US can NEVER be like the jewish or hispanic community. What we need is representation in the corridor of power (AKA Congress/ Senate), period. No number of phone calls from mere mortals like us will equate to one phone call from big-wigs such as Vinod Khosla or Indra Nooyi.

I approached the CEO of my company to raise my concern. My CEO was graceful and said that the government relations team in my org was already working in Washington D.C to address retrogression issues. I was given an internal point of contact who briefed me on the effort. Call it their need or greed, the "white man" seems to be more helpful in this regard.
There is no "single best strategy" - Microsoft's Ex-Chairman has testified to the Congress many times and it has been well covered in the media.

What we need is more motivated leaders like Pappu, Logic_Life, Aman, Paskal, NeedHelp!, ...................., and a lot of support from common people like us ............

I am trying to keep track of 2004 cases. I think USCIS is not doing fair justice by not giving preference to 2004 cases. Please post your priority date, I-140 approval dates(if approved), I-485 received dates, Name check cleared date(if cleared), finger print cleared date(if you gave finger prints and they got cleared)

As long as your orig employer does not complain(which i hardly doubt anyone will do) you are fine, worst case scenario if someone does, then its not a big hurdle to cross with an able attorney's help.
Just to put your mind at ease, i have several friends(not friend-of-a-friend) who had quit at various intervals (1-2-3 months) after getting their GC's and haven't faced a single issue while in process of becoming a citizen.
In short its better to be safe than sorry so these attorneys suggest staying for atleast 180 days.
If that is the case, then why is it that all immigration attorneys are asking us to stay with our current employers citing this "Intent" thing? Are you saying that it's all smoke and no fire?

I am wondering everybody here is throwing stones at small consulting companies, I wonder how these people came to US surely somebody did there H1? right? People are working in big companies HP/Oracle/SAP bla bla.. but I'm sure they are not the ones who brought you guys here. Also the day they'll get their green cards each of these people are going to open similar companies and do the same thing. This is amazing how people forget their past and forget the people who brought them here...I will call you guys thankless....

Dont let people come here and not pay them / treat them as slaves on contract etc. Look at all the postings (go to murthy's web site--you will see many) Employer not paying, etc etc. In such case whats difference between an illegal hotel worker and these mistreated H1bs. I stay in an apartment OK. One day my neighbour (living downstairs) was crying with his wife and a small kid. You want to know the reason--NO PAY FOR 2 MONTHS!!!!. All his hard earned money was finished paying rent, OK and his kid was sick. No money, nobody to ask. His contractor said WAIT, WAIT and nothing else. Having personally seen this situation, I am a little concerned. Why would you be concerned in asking infosys to disclose the usage of H1bs procurred by them?? If its used properly there shouldn't be any issue. Now how microsoft uses the H1b is more transparent. How many of u working for microsoft have had any issues???

I request everybody to add one line in the letter for Consular processing filers as they should be allowed to get AC21 and EAD facilities now. This law came earlier only for 485 filers because CP process was fast but now due to retrogession all CP filers are waiting for Years and in the worst sitauation as 485 filers are enjoying their freedom with AC21 and EAD
