I just opened a session in IV asking for experience and knowhow which seems to have turned into a heated congress session.
Plassey, regarding your thoughts and comments let me tell you something "GC is not the best thing in the world, for which one has to be so depressed and cry in bathroom". It is also possible that very few visa numbers were available during May for EB-3 India.

Lol, they can.....and they'll charge like $200/hr for everything w/o H-1s willing to be relocated at moments notice.....the industry can't afford to pay someone higher just because they are 'American' if it is not profitable for them......leads back to the original point....
And thus you are supporting the point made by anti-H1-B lobby that H1-B visas are being used for depressing wages. And secondly, what makes you think that an "american" will charge outrageously more compared to someone equally competent on H1-B?
From a legislative point of view, a good law should have a good underlying policy designed to serve "most" (if not all), but it also must be easy to enforce. H1-B law already has "legal" safeguards like the employee must always be paid (even if there is no project to work on), employee must not pay for the H1-B fees, etc. These stipulations are blatantly violated by software consultancies in general, and they do it because it has been proved to be very hard to catch (poor employees will say nothing in the fear of losing their job and worse, having to go back home). Thus the law is clearly not enforceable with the means available to DOL, USCIS or DOS. No doubt, there are very competent, high paid consultants on H1-B. If they were 90% of the people, we wouldn't be having this conversation. The situation in all likelihood is reversed (only a small percentage of consultants on H1-B are really competent and highly paid). Removing the privilege of H1-B from consultancies will remedy a lot of real and perception problems of H1-B at one go.

Now that you have green cards, you may have considered/thought about reentry permits.
Can you get multiple reentry permits i.e one 2 permit followed by a second 1 or 2 year permit?

For me, my AP was approved (along with my wife and daughter) on Oct 1st 2006. My Notice date is Sept 10th. The LUD on AP was 10/04, which said that the approval was "mailed" on 10/02. Hwoever I recd it on 10/20 and I could see that it was mailed on 10/19 from USCIS office. So, atleast for APs, even the status shows that it's been approved and mailed as well, it seems that it's not the case. It's been taking couple of weeks to get them in hand. Hopefully this info helps some people who are still waiting for APs.
I also took an Infopass appt, as we didn't recv FP notices yet. I opened a SR, but nothing so far. It looks that I may not get before I go to infopass next week.

The guy should keep his mouth shut. If the USCIS finds out about two wives, more likely he will be deported under 8 USC 1182(a)(10).
As for getting a visa for a girlfriend (unmarried couples), that's out of the question as well. You have to provide a marriage certificate.

So if I'm understanding it correctly. For all the ones who applied for I-140 after May15th 07 all there petitions will be cancelled or revoked? I really that should come from the USCIS as a amendment and not from a news or a blog. I have been browsing the website and yet to find it. Can someone help me out with the exact text from USCIS? :mad:

the bill is not yet law, how do you expect to find USCIS notification of anything? no one knows what the final law will be after the house and conference committee finish their parts. so do the necessary thing and let's try to get the best bill possible.

From their tone, I can tell the were trying hard to be helpful.
But, no receipt for me yet. July 2nd filer here as well.
Should I keep another set of 485 application ready, just in case if I don't hear about check cashing or receipt till august 15th ?
Is there any harm in filing the 485 again (just to be safe).... IF I don't get any indication of action on july2nd app ?
And how are you sure that the second application will be correct and not have any errors that the first one had? :D

Discover does not issue a credit card if you are not a PR or citizen..even though you have good credit history..
That is not true at all. Discover was the FIRST to isssue me a Credit card as a student and to this date no problems.
