I can't say for certain but from recent USCIS actions and the latest FAQ released, I see them issuing an RFE instead of outright rejecting the application. If they will accept applications without medical, they should be able to do the same for an employment letter. Ofcourse, this is just my humble opinion.

same happened to me in Elpaso airport longtime back, I guess when you are coming from Mexico they do that.

Just a friendly thought from a co-member, If you are motivated to attend the advocacy event, why dont you consider sponsoring your travel? We should try to keep the donated miles/hotel points for on-the-edge members who we will have to try convince at the last moment when we closer to April.
Motivated members who believe in this event should come forward and sponsor themselves and consider it as a contribution to the event. We are not doing anyone else a favor by travelling to DC - this is for our own good.

Now This sounds what I heard in 2001 dot com crash. When dot coms started crashing, people used to say stock of big ships like Cisco, Sun, Lucent etc can not and WILL NOT be affected.. It is just the small companies linked only to dot com will suffer.

It is not possible to revert back to the system where we were allowed to concurrently file I-140/I-485.
The only practical thing that can fought for and achieved is increase in number of visa numbers per year and faster processing.
Even, if visa numbers are current, they will not accept concurrent filing.

It was Sunday when I got off the bus in Phoenix and CBP asked me for the papers. I was not carrying any leagal document with me at that time. They tried to get my info on their computer based on the info I gave them about me but they could not for misterious reasons. Ultimately they arrested me for not carrying papers with me and put me in jail. I spent horrible night in jail that Sunday. The next day Judge asked me more details and could find my data. They released me and warned me to carry such papers with me all the time.I never knew that I was supposed to keep a copy of the papers with me. I am just wondering who is supposed to notify us that we need to carry papers with us at all the times ?

you buy a house when you don't have your green card, reduced to a single income with a new born, what else is gonna happen? Go buy BMW 3 series if you don't have one. Go invest thousands of dollars in stocks and then cry how your stock portfolio got wiped out (stocks will recover but by that time you'll have sleep disorder). People think when they come to the US of A, they fulfilled their life's ambition, not realizing their temporary status and immediately start buying new expensive cars and living it up! In another thread, my recommendation has been to buy a house rather than keep worrying over prices to reach rock bottom, but not unless you are green with a dual income and plans to live long term. How can you pan to live long term without being a resident is something I don't understand..

USCIS is not a legislative body, they cannot pass a law. The Congress does. In order to change any existing laws Congress has to pass it and USCIS just implements it. So I do not think meeting USCIS will help. BTW what is DOS ?

They do lot of rules with out going into Congress. So its nothing to lose to ask them what they can do for us without any bill. We will not lose if they say "They can`t do anything" but this will give us some hope that we did our best and also contact to USCIS too.

After long wait of 4.7 years ( i know it may not sound too long as some of the others), I finally got the card production ordered email yesterday. I was mostly a silent reader on IV but have contributed to IV few times since I started visiting since last year. I wish good luck for everybody waiting out there.

What I am not understanding is - why are they even looking at my case now? There are 4 years of applicants ahead of me, why cant the USCIS process those applications first?
I have a sickening feeling that this is going to become more and more common in this economic situation. There must a push from above to reduce the backlogs and if they cannot approve the cases they are going to find a way to deny them on some pretext or other.

The popular myth is that application is processed only when PD is current. However, it is just that - a myth. While I-485 application can be approved only when PD is current, but it can be processed, RFE can be issued, and law even allows I-485 application to be denied irrespective of PD.

Please have all AC-21 related documents for latest job (or job offer).

what can I say..!! lost sleep for many days,but now there is nothing I can do and just hoping all will be positive...
now with a labor filed in 2003,485 in 2007 and the PDs rolled back to 2000 god knows when our GC misery ends..The GC sponsoring employer will help with all the letters we need...if our dates become current in another 2 yrs..so 2009 - 2003 i.e 6yrs gap between the labor and GC adjuctication, will this raise an eyebrow of the IO officer...? the GC sponsoring employer is a 80 million $ construction company..
also another question..I see conflicting opinions about letting USCIS know bout the change in job and using AC21...some say wait till RFE and some say send a letter upfront..what is the best option..? also if we use AC21 do we still need to show that we have intentions to join the original GC sponsored employer A or the latest GC sponsor becomes the AC21-ed company..
