If buying a house had been the smart option, I would have bought it already.
Please see the attached XLS.
BTW, independent analysts predict that housing prices will fall by 20% in real terms in next 10 years.
All I am stating is that this issue can be a good talking point for the Immigration Lobby, especially as the housing market continues its slide down:)
Since I could not upload the attachment, pasting the summary sheet.
Note: I am still assuming that price of house will slightly appreciate for this calculation.

You have some very valid points about community (non)participation in your post.
I understand your point about having another rally. Make no mistake - IV core has no problems with planning and conducting another rally. So it's not a big issue to get them to agree. I can push IV core, and get another rally. Bigger issue is how many are going to turn up? If it's just 100-200 of us same-old folks, there is no point.
Last year when we were bouyed by the success of July VB reversal, it was estimated that at least 10,000 would turn up. But, only 2000 did. I don't know how many will, if we hold another few months from now?
IV can sponsor more ACTION (items). But what's point, if there is not enough participation? First step is the community needs to step up and make existing action items such as FOIA requests for backlog numbers, AC21 action items successful. This will motivate IV to launch more action items. No organization would want to be seen running too many campaigns with liitle or no community participation.
We need the IV core team and the administrator to guide some big rally's. Guys nothing will happen until we are bold about our intentions.
I noticed everyone comes up with their different ideas, but no one works to implement it. We need to stand together and do something big, when was the last time we had a big rally?
And how many people actually showed up? Desi's wants everything fast and free, the problem is lately IV thinks too much and has less of ACTION

It is high time, we support this initiative from Senator Menendez.
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum16-iv-agenda-and-legislative-updates/1624351-bill-s0185-active-again-please-call-your-senators-for-support.html#post2013464
"It seems that the bill S 1085 (the Reuniting Families Act (RFA) has become active again. I received e-mails from Senator Menedez and Senator Lautenberg talking about the bill. Senator Menendex mentioned the recapture employment-based visas that haven't been used in past years so that they may be used in future years. Among other things, he also mentioned that he will continue to address the concerns of employment-based visas in the context of comprehensive immigration reform. He is the sponsor of the S 1085 bill.
Senetor Lautenberg mentioned "Under current immigration law, employment-based immigration is limited to 140,000 visas, or green cards, per year. The process for obtaining employment-based visas can take years to complete, causing many of these visas to go unused. There is also an annual per-country limit that caps at seven percent the number of employment-based immigrants that can come from any one country. In some instances, this per-country cap causes employers to consider country of origin, not talent, when hiring foreign workers.
A bill has been introduced in the Senate that would address some of these delays and caps. The Reuniting American Families Act (S. 1085) would recapture unused employment-based visas from prior years. This bill would allow the Department of Homeland Security to issue any unused visas from Fiscal Years 1992-2007 and in the future roll over any unused visas from one year to the next. It would also increase the per-country cap for employment-based visas to ten percent of the annual total."
It seems that Senator Menendez is doing a lot of work to bring relief to all immigrants including employment based. It may be brought in the lame-duck session in December.
Please call your Senators to co-sponsor/support this bill."

I recant my earlier outburst at mercies since I realize that he was acting as a messenger to the problem. Sorry for the offense mercies.
There are many people who would just run away from effort when doubts are raised and since people of afraid of being punished for just advocating a public policy or writing a letter to congress in the first place. I would request you to not reproduce posts here or on portal that would echo the material the plants fear and doubts among members. When the core group is spending 2-3 hours a day on top of their fulltime job plus the weekends, plus out of pocket expenses on travel to DC, its disheartening when a post on forum scares away sceptical members.
I have already edited my earlier post.
I appreciate your words. I will be more careful about how to counter negative propaganda either myself or get help from others! This was clumsy and impulsive of me to post this all here, but believe me I have myself learnt so much more in this process!
Truely, I appreciate how much effort is being put in on the behalf of all of us!
Mercies there is a bit of a difference in getting ur doubts addressed and ur post. Once again i didnt mean any offence to you in particular, just was upset by the sheer length and attack in ur post.
eb3_nepa, I was hasty because I was thinking of how negative posts were not being countered. I was more worried about how the silent viewers take in all wrong info! But, now I know where to get help now and who to turn to!
From what I gathered, you were just being a messenger and if you look at my post, I have never referred to you in anything. All my answers were directed to hadron. At the same time its a little frustrating to us when people repeatedly keep on questioning our goals/legitimacy. Being a messenger, you bore the brunt from some of us
Hopefully you realize our situation and will keep on volunteering/contributing....
ragz4u, I understand. I see your frustrations but I think we have to keep working on some people who are just oblivious to all the good work that is being done at IV!
But, this battle has not even been joined yet - so we have to soldier on patiently!
Your brilliant posted answers are what I was looking for to start with!
Please keep up the good work!

A PhD does not automatically qualify you for EB1. There are a lot of other requirements. Unless you are in a research or teaching job, it's hard for PhD's to qualify for EB1. Besides, there's the small matter of getting an H-1B or O-1.
If she has a PHD in CSE she should look for a job get H1 and file Green Card in EB1 all off this can be done in 6 months! What's holding you back???? :)

visit your senator's website. Look for links for "casework". Look for contact person for immigration. Call your senator's office at that number. Explain your problem. They will ask you to write a letter giving your case information and requesting them to find out the status. Some senator offices may require you to fill some form in a format pertinent to them with the intention of giving the senator's office permission to inquire on your behalf and to give access to your personal information.
Once they have letter from you they will contact USCIS on your behalf. They will tell you by when they will hear back from USCIS. Make sure you do not call them repeatedly, call them when they ask you to call them or call them after a reasonable amount of time i.e. 2 weeks.

I understand you dont care about the United States and its people and youre only interested in what you can gain from them but if you werent so blinded by greed youd see this is something else they can give to you. Now I know why I took the route I did, I would have accomplished far less in my personal life with the likes of you. In fact, I may doing to much sharing my expertise with you. I refuse to have my name tarnished any further. Besides, youre only a beginner. What was I thinking? IV really ought to make it clear to everyone that this is an amateur site. Maybe by changing its name to Beginning Immigration. IV definitely is not the voice of Immigration my voice is different from IVs and Im dealing with immigration. I may have to contact the internet higher-ups about this farse.

Most of the EB2's are very happy with the bulletin (which they should be) but I also see most of them are non-donors (or the free riders).
Thanks IV as always for the updates and keeping the hope alive.
Agreed that I haven't contributed (yet) but that's a mighty big acquisition from your end on calling all of us EB2's free riders without any considerable data to prove it.
I think it's within our best interests to remain united until things are straightened up but I sure can understand your bitterness and hope the best for you too.

What I can gather from this is that USCIS is going back on its original position of asking the FBI to expedite Name Check cases.
