Given the hopelessness of the situation in March, switched jobs and was unable to file labor for a variety of reasons. Now everyday I see people come over and tell me how they plan to switch jobs once the 6 month mandated hibernation is over...I feel like breaking something. Lot of them have even stopped working, confident that a new job awaits
8 years of paying taxes in this country and not even a piece of plastic to show for it.
--That ought to suck every bit of sanity left! I know "should have..would have..." doesn't matter anymore but I am curious why you did not opt to do labor substitution in june-july period. You should have had a crack at it.
I know people on h1 with consulting companies did better than those who got stuck with one permanent job.Stale career , stale pay and so on...
Do your best and make most of h1b.

Can some one with good english skills prepare an email with heading like
'Please approve my status from legal to ILLEGAL.' include all points from rajesh_kamisetty and any other similar questions.
And everyone in this forum can send that out to every newspaper and every senator in this country. I believe this can open their eyes little bit.
Think guys. If there is decent letter I promise that I can stay whole night to send to all these guys.
I sent this to a lot of people
Do you say that being illegal, undocumented is better rewarded than being Legal Skilled Professional in US?
Yes I am talking about C-I-R (Compromise Immigration Reform) 2007 and how all the High Skilled Professionals are affected by this. High skilled professional who helped to build the economy for years basically are not rewarded for being legal and paying taxes. The "grand compromise" plan of the US Senate inadvertently (we hope) favors the undocumented over the highly skilled legal immigrants. We are sure the intention of the senators was not to ask the highly skilled legal immigrants to throw away their documents and get in line with the undocumented.
We, all high skilled professionals and ImmigrationVoice.org (12,000+ members) are extremely disappointed by this proposed bill and we would like to oppose this entirely and would like new amendments to benefit our basic needs.
# Increase the Quota from 140,000; NOT reduce to 90,000
# Remove the country limit even for High Skilled Professionals too.
# Provide provision to apply for adjustment of status even when the visa
numbers are not available.
# New Merit based system put the Skilled professional back in the line and also increase the points earned for high
Skilled professionals at least equal to unskilled labors
# Legal status of many individuals will be in jeopardy as important provisions from AC-21 are being removed by Congress
And it would difficult for non-immigrant like h-1b to renew after 6 years.
Give high-skilled legal immigrants a fair deal! That is all we are asking for
Immigration Voice (www.immigrationvoice.org) is a non-profit national grassroots organization committed to feasible solutions to a broken employment-based immigration process. Immigration Voice is advocating for technical changes that will improve the quality of life of several individuals that are stuck in the backlogs/delays, and help the system to work as it was intended.

Most probably Reid would bring back CIRcus back on senate floor on May 25 ....
Remeber that if Reid decides for cloture first and after that amendment then very high chances of passing this bill in senate because Cloture needs 60 votes but passing a bill needs simple majority i.e. 51 votes ...
Core, what is our action plan, support any single amendment and by doing that support entire bill or oppose entire CIRcus?

I-485 is your application. Employer must provide receipt notices. Talk to your lawyer, he'll help you. You can call USCIS and get receipt notice.
To answer your question, I'm not that expert.
"Talk to your lawyer, he'll help you"..... not really..
My lawyer told me he will not provide receipt notice without employer's permission and employer has refused to grant permission.."
Don't know if calling USCIS and asking for a receipt notice will help if I already have an attorney authorized to represent ME through G-28...
Won't they send it to the attorney on record again?

Most audits are routine, once you can back up your claims with paper records/receipts you will be OK, but consult with your CPA and be ready to address the points raised.
Unless you have been found to commit criminal fraud, it should not affect your green card petition. Small penalties and the like have no effect. Last year I had to pay a small penalty because I underestimated my taxes deducted during the year.
You are getting an audit for the 2005 year now? I would have thought they would have moved on by now. Did you take an extension and file late last year?
You can expect it anytime. The retention period is 7 years, so keep all your tax filing papers and all related docs for at least 7 years.

I am asking people to think before acting.
I am not opposing webfax. I am opposing webfax you are sending to promite illegals. These organizations are going to use you to market them self. Secondly nobody is going to read your fax if you even change the words.
Organizations supporting illegals will do nothing for legals.
If you think that by changing the words , you can use their fax to spread your message, then why dont you go to anti-immigrant websites and change their words and send faxes to support legals. You will not do it because you know anti-immigrant is written on top of the fax.
So why do you want to become a puppet of someone else.
psaxena if you really want to do something, how about collecting the names of all the people in the meeting and post their phone numbers on the forum. Then tell us what to say and we will all call their offices now.

Yes. The malicious code did not download any virus or inject any virus in anyone's system. All it did was to redirect the user via a popup to a malicious website. Antivirus scanners pick this up as a virus alert, but it is not. It is more of an annoyance than a virus attack.
I honestly cannot vouch for the millions of hackers and script kiddies out there that this won't happen but use a good Anti-virus scanner especially if you have kids at home.
Winner,
Yes I am the lazy blog owner who hasn't updated the site in a while.

Hello Gus
My understanding is that Sen Maj. Leader and Min leader pick senate
conferees. Similar with house. Democrats support the bill. Most of the
republicans oppose it. House and Senate Bill are different like day and
night. The bill has to pass because.
1. Enforcement and Boarder protection is highly needed and the house
really want it. If they need it they have to make some sacrifice accepting
guest workers program with slight modification etc. Otherway the CIR supporting conferees may not agree and bill dies leaving things same as now
which nobody wants.
2. Election is approaching. Most of the leaders in Rep party openly admitted
that Enforcement only bill will affect them adversly
3. Mr. Persident is a strongly supporting Guest Worker program.
4. If a enforcement only bill is pased thats going to affect the relationship
with Mexico.
I believe the House is against legal immigration too. Otherway some provisions might have survived in the budget bill. My biggest worry is that
if CIR supporters and Opposers (conferees) will be happy to remove legal immigration provisions in the in the reconcilation process and call it deal!
thanks
