The process of E-filing was easy !!. The ASC took only 10 min for the photos and Finger Prints.
Advantages of E-File:

- Get Recipt # instantly.
- No more LOST receipts (or anxiously waiting for a RECEIPT )

- Save Money on Photographs
- Service Center ALSO sends a copy of the Receipt at the give address within 5 days.
- ASC guys have become EXPERTS in handling EAD appointments. (Wait time is less than 30 min )
- ASC officer signs and "stamps" the copy of your EAD online receipt (proof that you went there )
- Online Receipt has "Bar CODE" which the ASC guys scan to import data.
- ASC has a seperate Quality Control Officer who checks ALL data entered including FP , Digital Photo , A# , etc. The Quality Control Officer then signs the I-765 Application as well.
- Appointment set using 800 # ( wait time on phone 2 ~ 3 min )
- Time at ASC << 30 min.
- ASC has printout of Appointment Schedule. (so no hassle explaining to them)
Disadvantages:
- You Have to go to the ASC for Digital Photo (U might have to take half vacation day ... ) it depends ( I took a 8:00 AM app ; Reached ASC at 7:40 AM . Door Opened at 7:50 AM . finished by 8:10 AM. Back to Office at 9:00 AM )
I-765 EAD ONLINE APPLICATION GUIDE
These instructions assume that this EAD online application is based on an I-485 adjustment of status application filed at a SERVICE CENTER based on an I-140 employment-based immigrant visa petition.
Before you start the online application, please make sure that you have the following:
1. Your computer has Adobe Acrobat Reader (to create and save a document in PDF format); you can download the Acrobat Reader for free at the following site:

2. You have your ALIEN NUMBER assigned to you when the I-485 adjustment of status was filed (and contained in your last EAD card);

6. The port of entry to the USA (city);
7. Current status (enter the same category that you entered in or converted to while in the USA: H-1, L-1, F-1, advance parole);
8. The date you last applied for an EAD; (Or MULTIPLE EAD's) Have information for all of them.
9. The place where you applied (Texas Service Center, etc);
10. The results of your last EAD application (granted, denied, etc);
11. Credit Cards / Personal check so you can read the Bank routing and accounts numbers; (I would recommend CREDIT CARD )
12. The name of Credit Cards/ checking account holder as it appears in the Bank records;
13. The address of Credit Cards/ the checking account holder as it appears in the Bank records;
14. The phone number of the Credit Cards/ checking account holder as it appears in the Bank records.

**At the next page, please select eFiling BCIS Forms.
**At the next page, please select Form I-765, E-Filing Application for Employment Authorization.
**At the next page, please select I-765 .
**At the next page, please select Begin Application.
**At the next page, please select oval one (I am filing the form for myself or to assist someone. I am not a qualified Attorney) and then press CONTINUE;
**At the next page, please select RENEWAL OF MY PERMISSION TO ACCEPT EMPLOYMENT and complete all the biographic data about yourself – almost at the foot of the application, include the ALIEN NUMBER beginning with the letter A and followed by the numbers without any dashes (there is NO NEED to include the I-94 number—all you need is the alien number);
**At the next page, select YES to the question “Have you ever before applied for employment Authorization form BCIS? And include the Service Center where the I-485 application was filed: TEXAS SERVICE CENTER, VERMONT SERVICE CENTER, NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER or CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER; also include the date of the last EAD application (see the date of the last EAD was issued and use that date) and the results GRANTED – You should also enter the DATE OF LAST ENTRY TO THE USA, PLACE OF LAST ENTRY, MANNER (B-1, H-1, ETC)

Then a box that reads PLEASE PROVIDE INFORMATION CONCERNING YOUR ELIGIBILITY STATUS – Here you should enter the filing receipt of YOUR I-485 application and the I-140 filing receipt (yours if your are the principal applicant or of your spouse/parent if you are not the principal applicant) –Example I-485 SRC-00-000-00000 and I-140 SRC-00-000-00000 –
**The following page will ask to confirm the particulars of the Credit Card or checking account being used to pay the $120.00 filing fee.

Thank you very much for the response. My lawyer just responded back to DOL like around a week ago. It is very frustrated that I still don�t hear anything from DOL so far. I wonder if I change my visa to F1 by attending the school full times such as attending college. Can I stay in US and wait until I got my green card approved? Is it possible to do so?

Funds, There are more ideas than funds. For every new campaign, plan, we need funds. So it is an ever needed commodity. We can do a lot and lobby effectively, we just need more funds, plain and simple. Inspite of several hundreds contributing, it is not enough. Remember IV is a non-profit, so every penny is accounted for. People handling money (core IV) are sincere, honest hardworking people on work-visas, they have much to lose from not being accountable. And the most important thing is, please take a look at these hard-working IV CORE PEOPLE, please. Some of them have put thousands of dollars (I mean 5 and ten thousand) into this effort. I am not counting personal expenses, travelling to DC, lost work hours etc.
So your $100 at the bowling arena, or $50 at dinner or $35 bouquet wont get you much farther, but your recurring contribution to IV will.

Does it mean that these developments or should we call no developments on the high skilled immigration front in the developed countries have an underlying message for all of us? Return back to your home countries.... In USA, one positive thing was that it has been 'the melting pot' of people of all cultures and nationality to come together. I will give you an example: my friends 2 year old says that he is an American and not his native origin. In UK, you will still find 3rd generation people telling their nationality to be of their native oigin.
In USA, the immigrants intergrated with the society but in Europe, the message is clear, you are here that is ok, but live in the other side of the city and have limited opportunities. If Sensenbrenner and co have their way, US would be on the same path.

Congrats for the painless Visa stamping.
If you are on EAD before leaving US, you better to continue the same status. Their might be a situation for USCIS considering giving up your AOS, if you enter US on H1b while you were on EAD before leaving US.

Well, it appears some mix up happened for Houston listeneres. I tuned in at 90.1 FM to listen this interview, at 3 pm central time(Houston time) but only music was being played.
later on internet I could listen the last 15 minutes of the session only, which sounded very good by its questions answers and content.

It was estimated by Compete America that if the last CIR had passed there would have been more than 500,000 visa numbers recaptured ( don't ask me for the math, I didn't come up with this number). Assuming that the Nurses took away a chunk of it, we still would have a big chunk to statify Eb3, Eb3, ROW, India, China etc. etc. And the nurses are going to walk away with a big chunk folks - whether we like it or not - because we are fighting each other like dogs for the scraps of the spillover, while they will come up well organized and walk away with the cake.
Our disunity, lack of long-term vision, lack of action is our biggest weakness. We will not win unless we fight this together.
For the August visa bulletin, USCIS gave all the extra quota to EB2. I don't think this is fair for all the EB3 people. I thougt the reason they gave all the quota to them was the EB2 included NIW. But NIW is just a small portion of EB2. Majority EB2 peopole are like EB3 working for companies and not necessarily important to give all the extra quota to them. If the policy continues, our EB3 will just become fake immigration. You don't know how long we can finalize our case. Gugs, please work together and let our voice to be heard by USCIS. Hope our organization can help us.

I think you make some very good point about funding. I see some people complaining how a lot of members aren't contributing. I think it is plain naive to expect everyone to contribute.
People can be divided into three types:
1. People willing to fight what they percieve as injustice.
2. People who complain but do nothing about what they think is unjust.

This isn't just about immigration. It could be any issue. Most ppl want someone else to do what's needed. They don't want to spend time or money. There will always be a few ppl who are active. If you belong to category 1, don't expect everyone to belong there.
The other aspect IV should consider is broadening the goals. IV has done good work but the core focus seems to be retrogression. Tens of thousands of ppl have cases rotting in BEC for 3-5 years they are not going to contribute to an organization that will put them at par with ppl who filed for labor in the last couple of years. It goes against human psychology.

Regarding the recent pledge drive in particular, it gives me a nasty taste in my mouth since it stings of hypocrisy that I can't get over. A similar one was attempted by a member here (which I signed up for), using the ""I will donate $10 monthly to Immigration Voice for one year but only if 1,000 other people will do the same."
That effort, although endorsed by the core group, got 88 people to vote, and was criticized in these very forums as being a waste of time, or not the proper way to do it. Of course, fast forward a few months and now look...
I also find it distasteful to have to read through threads that could be of some importance or value, but find that good chunks are just "Hey, look at me, look at how much I contributed"
So, since I'm all bitter and alienated , why did I actually contribute?
Every time I get annoyed or offended by someone's insensitive or cultural narrow mindedness, I try to ignore it and remind myself that that single person does not represent the values of the core group and this organization as a whole. It gets challenging.

The calm before the storm ... I think every one atleast in IT is in a wait and watch mode .... its still all too sudden ... end of Q1 2009 we will really begin to see the actual effects.... thats when most companies in US will be posting their earnings / license renewals etc ... defaults there?? Im keeping my fingers crossed ... hopefully we come out of this mess soon...

As per AC21 rule, it is from Receipt. However, let's put some practicality into the matter. Some IO's interpret the rule wrongly and used Notice Date instead. So what will happen? Your GC denied for wrong reasons and you file for MTR because it was USCIS mistake. If you're willing to take the chance, then go. If not, better use Notice Date for practicality purposes and to avoid all the hassle of MTR, etc.

When there are so much negative opinion, instead of chasing this avenue, let us all focus on what is tangible (such as connecting with media and building up public support). If by chance he goes against the legal immigration too, then we burn candle from both ends. The risk is not worth it.

Got following email today on my daughters case today. NSC July Filer. EB2 I Mar 2006.
All our cases show this status now.
Any idea what happens next?
Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred. The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done, counting from when USCIS received it. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. To receive e-mail updates, follow the link below to register.
Where in the email does it say that the case has been transferred to a "LOCAL" USCIS office? From your information it appears that you are a July 2007 filer. Please check your 485 receipt number, if it starts with anything other than LIN, it means that although you mailed your application to the NSC, they sent your packets to either CSC or TSC for data entry. Now that your PD is current, it is quite possible that this office is now sending your packet back to NSC (which has jurisdiction) and is now pending there.
I say this, because, the same thing happened to me and many others whose 485 submissions were sent to difeerent offices for receipting and then those packets were sent back to NSC.
