I wonder how much power these committees have. It is clear from her letter that DOS/DHS chose not to respond to her or send her any info and defy her request to continue accepting AOS applications until she had a chance to review the matter closely. Committee has the subpoena power to force the document release and hold hearing but if DOS/DHS ignore her letter again, I wonder what would she do.
I guess the deadline is tomorrow so we'll see how this unfolds.

The first step you should get your employer to do is to file a job order in the state job bank or americas job bank. You have to keep this ad for 30 days and then wait another 30 days to file PERM. This is the longest time. All other forms of recruitment needs to wait only 30 days and you can file PERM on the 31st day. There is no mention of working days or weekends, it is 30 continuous days. As you know in addition to this job bank order, and two Sunday newspaper ads, there has to be three other forms of recruitment before you can file PERM. If your employer and lawyer are really proactive it will only take 60 days to file PERM from start to finish. You also have to get a prevailing wage determination and post it at your job site for 10 days not including holidays and weekends. Hope this helps. Please contribute and incrase the membership of IV for the good of all of us.

DOL filed my application for perm.work permit on March 2006. /so my Pd march 2006/ They approved this application.Then ,we sent the i-140 application form to USCIS.They sent it back,because the DOL made an error concering my salary.The DOL corrected this error and approved once again in October 2006. Now my i-140 is approved,USCIS transfered my case to NVC and to my atthorney in which the priority date is October 2006.Now I waiting for CP .What can I do in this situation? When my lawyer applied for my H1B extension she forgot to apply for my wife's H4 extension (Form I 539). Now after about year and half when we are preparing to file for our 485 status adjustment we she found out that she forgot to apply for that. So she is now filing the Form I 539 with an explaination. So that means my wife has been out of status for almost more than a year now unknowingly. How much of a chance does she have to have her form I 539 approved now? Any response would be very much appreciated.

We have reached 40%. To reach 50% we need $6000 more. If more people can contribute, we can reach this in no time.
The core and a lot of serious members have already contributed.
There are 2 mind sets of people on this forum:
1) I have contributed $500+ , I do not need to contribute $20 more, In anycase what is my
$20 going to do?.
2) I have never contributed, but I am ashamed of making my first contribution of only $20.
(Although that is what I am comfortable doing at this time.)
Both the above mindsets are wrong because If we have 7000+ members, out of which say 1000 have already contributed, that leaves us with 6000 members. If 6000 members contribute $1 each, we are at $ 6000 - 50% met.
Now all are not going to do it.
So you see $20 is still a good amount to start.
For the future, we definately need more members. So the add a member campaign is very important.

EB2 and EB3 care about what is happening because i have seen EB2 guys on this forum talk about the EB3 backlog and on the flip side there are EB3 guys who are working with IV on whatever garden path they are being led on.
My effort is to make IV core aware of the fact that maximum EB3 guys do not believe in IV direction. Now that is an eye opener and if IV really believes that they they are a representative of all EB they must face the fact that they do not have support of maximum of EB3 folks
Now if IV comes up with some genuine action items which will relieve the pressure on EB3 then they will see that EB3 folks will start believing in this whole lobbying and advocacy effort.
For example this 55k bill could include terms for EB3. Now no one from IV is talking about that and one enlightened eb2 volunteer says let the bill come through then we can include but if IV does not talk about it now how will any EB3 believe that IV would do in crunch time

I got Card Production Ordered mail for my EAD yesterday (08/12/08). I e-filed on June, 1st and gave finger prints on June 26th. I hope I'll receive my card by Sep, 24th which is when my current EAD expires.
Hope you guys get approvals soon. Couple of my friends also got approved on 12th.

I am confused about CSPA
My child will turn 21 march 2009, currently on EAD from the I485 filling in July 07, I140 approved in July 07, PD is Feb 07. I have not received any letter from USCIS about the immigration age of child being locked in at filling. Where does my child stand now?.

Some one in Kennedy's office is hell bent on getting rid of paragraph (5) in there....
paragraph (5) is the one that gave us the 'soft' country limits...

I applied for 10 years passport extension ( old one issued from india) on March 05.2008 by Fedex. CGI Houston received it on March 06. Couldn't contact consulate employees as no one picks up the phone.
So went today to CGI Houston to check the status personally.
Checked with mail room and came to know that they had posted the passport yesterday. I received it in Fedex today. CGI mail room even provided me Fedex tracking number.
Old passport issued from : India
CGI received date: March-06-2008
Completed processing: April-12-2008
Fedexed the passport : April 16, 2008
Received new passport: April 17,2008
CGI Mail room keeps track of the passport status. They can lookup the applicant name and find the status.
So went today to CGI Houston to check the status personally.
