My wife will be on h1b from oct 1 (currently on h4)...we have a planned visit to India in mid october and that when we plan on getting her h1b stamped (around october 20th or so). My question is since we will be travelling when her h1b has already started yet we wont have any pay stubs when we go to the consulate for stamping...will this create any problem? Also what other docs do we carry with us for the same...

I can't run as fast as you do Nola. However, that will be an aggressive goal for me to set this year. I will be happy even if I finish the half marathon an hour after you do.
Hi Santb1975,
We are working up to it, and either GoIV or myself may partner with you to run/walk the Houston Half. Working on it now :) will keep you posted!

Me too! Small world:) I have sent you an email........
When I was a kid in India, some evenings, I could not get a BST Bus to get home from school, so I used to walk from Matunga Circle in Bombay all the way home in Chembur. I was 12 years old and and it took me less than 2 hours. :)
Please PM me your e-mail address or e-mail me at TeamIV@yahoo.com.
Thanks,

Item 4 must be dropped. There is this major misconception about Indians being able to afford housing more than others - No! HUD shows that compared to other communities only 4% of Indian immigrants own a home.
Sometime back some other person on the forum wanted USCIS to give GCs if candidate buys a home - what a foolish idea. He thought it would help the economy. How? Buy if you can't afford and then go into foreclosure?
Rest of the points are fine except I don't think involving social security is this is going to fly! Too sensitive a topic.
Yours is misconception. How can you decide that this is only for Indians?

Pls post this information on other websites and forums as well so that people can start calling
We do not enough people calling as per the poll above
Hi Pappu and Administrators:
I am not sure if you still need people call to the CHC. I think you need to make Hispanic call a lot. I will be glad to transmit this information but I am not sure if this bill already passes yesterday. You probably know the philosophy about why they do not want support this bill but if they realized that besides non legal residents, there are a lot of Hispanic people looking for GC throug H1Bs, and they are suffering as many of us, they can change their minds......You should contact other members of IV who are Hispanics and make them to spread the voice.....Let me know if we need more calls.......

Hi,
I havent received any emails from IV. I have a valid email account and verified twice. I haven't received a single email or newsletter.
Now its not a big deal as I have been following up all the events through website and also contributed..
But wanted to get it to the admin's attention so that they can check if there is some software glitch. There might be people like me who havent been receiving emails and are not visiting the website on a daily basis..
Sorry I am refering to the email notification, not IV board message. My Yahoo email account just recieved one email from IV when I registered my account.

I received my AP renewed document 2 days ago, but there is no email or status update relating to it as of today. I am waiting for my EAD and My wifes AP/EAD approval. I wish my I-485 is approved like this. I posted this earlier in another thread but I dont see it any more, thought I would share my experience here.
Did any one had similar experience like this. Approved and received doc/card but no email or LUD or online status change?
I also wanted to know how to start a new thread? In case I want to start a new for another crazy stuff.

I have received approval on April 04 and today I have received GCs for all my family but not for one of my daughters. I checked USCIS and I just realized her application is still pending. She just turned 14 on March and she only did FP 2. Do you think she has to do again FP or they just left her behind......
Same story here. They will send RFE for biometrics for her. Expect it within a month, if you do not get it in a month, take Infopass/call and ask for biometrics appointment. My daughter's I-485 was approved next day after FP.

I did not take infopass appointment. I called the Customer Service on May 6th and opened a service request and today I got a request for evidence from USCIS. I am able to see this online but did not receive any letter. I think we should receive the letter by the end of the week...very frustrating...
Don't worry too much.. It could be as simple as having to re-submit a particular form once again because the tick marks were not legible! This has happened.

1) Fast-track GC process for Masters degree holders from US universities. This will be the least controversial, boost admissions (and money) flowing into universities, and clear up backlog in regular GC queue. Its a win-win and most senators, congressmen have voiced support for it already. We can get very good support from University lobbyists also (if they exist!!).
If this process removes those with US Masters from the existing queue and puts them in a queue with no visa number limit, this is an excellent proposal. This might even eliminate the entire backlog.

Immigration Voice: Announces Advocacy days in Washington DC in April.
Immigration Voice in its continued efforts to find legislative and administrative fixes is holding Advocacy Days in Washington DC on Monday, April 4th and Tuesday, April 5th.
2011 is a crucial year to get the fix needed to clear the backlogs and allow for our high skilled immigrants to get the relief needed. We need to capitalize on the opportunity to push for legislation now, as it is unlikely to have any favorable immigration bill to be brought for the next 2-3 years (Primary campaigns, Presidential campaigns will take priority).
IV’s vision is to hold more than 400 meetings with the legislator offices both in the House and the Senate. We will also be holding meetings with senior administration officials working on immigration issues. As a grassroots organization we need members from all across the country to register, participate in the advocacy event, bring awareness on our issues and seek a positive vote on our provisions from the legislators.
We aim to resolve this issue but we cannot do it alone and therefore it is imperative for everyone, and by that we mean EVERY ONE to participate in one way or the other. If you wanted to be a part of the past events but couldn’t, then now is your chance to make your voices heard and fight for a fair system and just process. Always remember, we are in United States at the invitation of our employers and our employers have filed our green card petitions in order to retain us. It is only fair and only just to ask for a system that achieves that objective without delays and without putting the immigrants in probationary limbo for 6-12 years. And it is your obligation to yourself and your family to stand up for your rights and ask Congress to legislate and fix the system so that it works the way it was originally intended to work.
Our previous efforts such as the June Advocacy 2010, September Advocacy and Rally 2007, Flower campaign, San Jose Rally, and many intermediary mini advocacy events in DC has allowed us to be one step closer to the goal. We need to make this upcoming event as a final push for reform. The President’s STOU address and feedback from Lawmaker meetings have provided us the encouragement to pursue this endeavor. As many of our members know, the efforts in our last advocacy days are consequential in how we are perceived by the lawmaker offices. IV calls upon members who participated previously to provide their input on the need for advocacy efforts and persuade many others to join in.
Immigration Voice will arrange for meetings, advocacy material, and other logistics necessary for all the events during the Advocacy Days. All you have to do is show up. We request our members to come in on Saturday, April 2nd for orientation and training. Please make arrangements to carpool (for driving distances), book airline tickets, and contact friends in DC/MD area to host you. IV will not sponsor your travel and stay for this event. We expect each one of you to take the initiative and stand up for yourself and your family and use this opportunity to ask lawmakers to act on high-skilled immigration issue.
Our efforts have to be of a massive scale, we need members from every State to participate in the event. To be successful we need more than 200 members attending meetings. We also need to know in advance on your attendance. Please take the time to talk to your employers, arrange for a leave of absence, and register for the event as soon as possible. Make every possible attempt to be in DC.
To conduct such an effort, IV also needs contributions. Our estimated cost is around $50,000 for the event. We need generous contributions from our members, especially from members who are unable to make it to the DC event. To be clear, all one time contributions starting from February 1st will be considered as a contribution to the advocacy event. All the recurring donations will continue to go towards Donor forum access. Our advocacy event costs will be on top of our regular costs and we need to pay for both.

What's up with this site. I thought they updated the server yesterday and we shouldn't see the kind of downtime as we have been seeing in the past but I still don't see any difference. Did the server upgrade not make any difference. May be we should do a fund raising for server upgrade only. This is so frustrating that whenever there is some exciting news, you can't rely on IV webpage because it goes down. If core team needs money for server upgrade, I am all for it but someone please fix this mess.

This is what I call "tailoring message to our own needs". Lets take your example and I will do the same for you.
USCIS certainly has a report by RD and lets say they are providing that report to the congress or the Senate. What would you see in the report ? There will be applications backlogged for years especially EB3 I. Just in my case, the 485 has been pending for more than 6 years. Anyone who wants to look in to the performance of an organization would want to know how well they are doing and USCIS has to show that they have applications backlogged for more than 6 years and cannot process them because of the unavailability of the visa numbers. Would that look good on them ?
All big companies use both EB2 and EB3. We cannot justify one over the other with-out understanding the data. Again as far my understanding goes, I believe Bill Gates is a big proponent of H1Bs than getting his employees permanent residency.
I beleive you are selectively highlighting facts. Forgive me if I am wrong but there are two issues here
1) Applications Pending by PD
2) Applications Pending by Category (EB 2 & EB3)
Now yes I agree a congress man can ask like how come I see Eb3 app from 2001 pending with you since 2001. Which means 8+ years. With Spillover to Eb3 the dates max go to 2002 so the question would be app pending for 7+ years
With moving EB2 they can least claim that they have moved an entire category to current. Is that right or wrong is entirely a personal question but it is a valid argument from their side. Also look at it this way Eb1 I & Eb2 I currently have a gap of 4 years. and EB2 & Eb3 have a gap of 4 years as well.

C'mon IVians, with support from running giants like Runner's World, we should step up to the plate (or the start-line) of at least 1 walking/running event with Team IV!

It depends on the service you choose, I think they have an option for expedited service and you can get the document within couple of days. They also provide you the pdf format of the document, you can print that document and submit immediately instead of waiting for the postal document.
I hope they dont support only a few languages in india. My wife has a birth certificate in kanada. Anyways thanks for the info and i will check more info on http://trustfortecorp.com/. It is a valuable information which will applicable to many people.
