I think spillover method has not been changed since years. The only puzzle is that whether it is horizontal or vertical or combination of both that USCIS works with we exactly do not know.
Do you guys agree ?
In my opinion equal share of spillover count to oversubscribed EB categories for a particular year would be the final and legitimate solution.

I just found Feb 08 Stats (http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/APPLICATIONS%20FOR%20IMMIGRATION%20BENEFITS_Februa ry08.pdf) and in Feb 08 there were 787,516 I-485 cases pending. So this might be good news that the backlog is reducing?
Those 197k ( approx ) reduction could be from family based AOS.. until we get data from FOIA , we cannot relay on their information.. Its so broad range of figures they post.
Again who knows when they send us FOAI response.

I went in personally last month and got my passport the same day through the Tatkal scheme. I just feel spending the extra $150 is way better than anxiously awaiting for it for 3 weeks. I know that they take their jobs seriously over there and the chances of your passport getting lost are bleak. However, there were still a few things that I'd have them do differently. When I told them I wanted my passport the same day, the lady at the counter gave me a shocking expression.:D Then, I was asked to wait for a few minutes just because I mentioned it was an emergency. Not sure how that works :D After 40 mins or so of waiting, when I asked the same lady what was up, she gave me an even more surprised look and asked me 'you didnt get your passport yet?' :D So, I'd advise better be safe than sorry.

SFO took exactly 5 business days, incl. the day they received and the day they dispatched.

only 2 photos needed.
notarized only the cover letter and affidavit to add spouse's name.
their website is perfect. don't need to read/talk to anything/one else.

no CPO or welcome email.... just the below...funny part is, it was approved yesterday and when I checked the status this morning there was no change.
well I will take it :)

In the long run it will. The issue was that people could not afford to pay their healthcare insurance premiums. Those of us who are lucky to have high paying jobs and good employers can very look down on the folks that don't have healthcare. However, health care is now a human right declared by United Nations in Dec 1948. In the US, the largest developed nation, there are millions who cannot get healthcare (only emergency care). Even if this healthcare doesn't reduce it drastically in the short term, it will stem the rising costs eventually. That is the long term projection at least. Think about how much cheaper prescription drugs are in Canada when compared to the US.
I think that "what we are debating here is "what is better for the US". You and I can contribute to the SS and Medicare system that we are not allowed to draw from until we have greencards or become naturalized citizens. The illegals you mention are in the same boat. The point that I am making is that the anti-immigration lobby sees all immigrants in a single light. If we try to divide ourselves away from the low-skilled we are not going to get anywhere. Immigration in general touches a number issues - civil and human rights, economics, etc.. By trying to distance ourselves from any of these issues, we are in fact make it more difficult for ourselves. For the record, I do want a green card, I want a fair system. I don't believe in treating one person different from another because of their background or the kind of work they perform. (that's just to give some perspective regarding my views on the issue). E-Filed on 04/15 . Wifes EAD Card received on 06/01. Mine still says initial review so Initiated a service request but looks like it would not have much impact as case is still under normal processing times.
Getting concerned now since my current EAD expires on 90th day.

People who filed in April/May are still waiting and GOD only knows when the wait is goign to be over.
I will say lucky are those folks, who have got their EAD's approved. Atleast they dont have to worry about not working.

We face problems of backlogs, and career uncertainty. IV is offering a solution, if implemented, it will bring relief to all. IV needs your help to deliver what you and I "NEED" AND "WANT".

We need heavy participation on the lobby days, I need volunteers from different states to ask me "How can I help?" instead, I am trying to find volunteers! I have been able to persuade members who have received GCs to help out, but getting members who are still in the mess are either unaware of the advocacy days (in spite of the thread running on the home page for the past month) or are not ready to talk to the employers to take the two days off. Capitol Hill runs on weekdays and therefore it is necessary for you to take the time off.

What exactly do they mean by electronic re-validation? Aren't all FPs stored electronically anyway? And they validate it everytime you re-enter the country or apply for EAD....

add to that aman's lost bags and cell phone and constant attempts to call akhil to retrieve his wallet...poor akhil arrived back huffing and puffing and in mortal panic...later we discovered we had his home phone number and had been leaving messages on it for 2 days...and wondering why in the world he would not pick his phone up!
It was a unique situation.........
me and my wife were coming back from a lawmakers meeting and found that Aman was waiting for his wallet as the luggage was in my car...........
while walking fast she scratched her ankle badly and was not able to walk properly............ so i made her sit at an intersection and ran towards the hotel............ then had to rush back to get her, as i had asked to her wait at an intersection....
was fun and by the time i reached back i was like all huffed/puffed up and she was laughing at me...........
It was a unique situation.........

Possibly not. But it has to reach USCIS and I was thinking of getting through the liason process of the senators / congressmen.
If IV can take up this effort, then there is a channel that we can get through. But I dont think it is going to happen, because of the infights. Even if USCIS does'nt react, we can use this process to challenge the intrepretation and show them the mess that they have created. May be that will help

EB2 group should unite and lobby hard to ensure that the current equation EB1 > EB2 > EB3 is not disturbed. After all, everyone is selfish when the pins are down. I thought those visas were only for schedule A workers and if you are not in that catagory, this doesn't change anything for you. Besides, recapture still hasn't happened yet so this is all with a big "IF".
I am jumping ahead of the situation here, but I just wanted to see what other members think/know. Assuming that the 90K visa recapture happens, It doesnt take too long for them to be used up in the current situation where there are a lot of people with labors and approved 140's (w/PERM). Not every one will have an oppurtunity to file for a new labor and file for 485. If DOS makes the PD's current / post Mar 2005, wouldn't it be unfair to people who labors are pending for 3 yrs. How does this work out in the previous recapture? HLG doesnt say about numbers being forwarded to the next year though.

Jus tnow got CPO Email for me Also, I think the SR for Expediate process requested by wife did work.
I am glad to see the Email finally.
We had opened SR by going to the option of Address Change and then to the CR rep, and the rep had actually initiated Expediate process on finding that we have not received the EAD card, Rep had asked allt he options like Military Service, govt service and financial hardship, we told we loose job is we do not get EAD before the expiry date and Rep choose the option of Financial hardship as cause for Expediate request and it worked for us.
I hope others can try this option to initiate Expediate Process
