USCIS passed a rule that it will start giving 2 years EAD. Inspite of that, several people last year got 1 year EADs or worse, they would get EAD starts dates 2 to 3 months before the expiry of the first EAD just because they applied early..... basically they got a EAD for only 9 months!
How is the situation now?
Recent EAD receivers, kindly answer the following 2 questions.
1) Have you been getting EADs with 2 years validity without any hassle?
2) Is the new EAD start date coinciding with the expiry date of the last EAD?

Please note that even tho the dates have moved, we are not out of the woods. There is a definate possibililty that the dates could regress in October. If you choose consular processing and your category/country retrogresses then it will have implications. Talk to your lawyer before taking any decision.
If you are lucky then its straightforward, for some its a nightmare, namecheck can take some time in the meantime your category can regress.
I'm trying to make decision to pick consular or Adj. status.
Please, can somebody tell me the flow on Adj. status here.

From last two days I am also getting the Payment Processing error when i use the credit card option and called the Customer service, they informed send an email to E-filing.support@dhs.gov and sent an email yesterday and still didn't receive any response back. Today When i try to goto login page, now i am getting "Server is currently unavailable or down for maintenance".
Same here, I think, it took two days for USCIS E-filing support team that payment server is not working. I interpret the message "Server is currently unavailable or down for maintenance" as now the problem would be fixed.

I am in EB3 and PD is nov 2003. I am eligible for EB2 and I am feeling sick of EB3 and would like to port to EB2. Is it good idea or not?????
Great Idea.. there is nothing to loose, if your employer is sponsoring for porting. If all stars in favor of you will be greened in another 1- 11/2 years Max with EB2 porting

I do agree with some of your points. We could do with a marketing consultant for the website, etc
Many on core are working almost all their waking hours, and simply don't have time.
But you know what the funny thing is? No one is willing to donate for these items.
We are even $28,000 short for critical things like Advocacy days.
People couldn't even collect a few thousand dollars for advertising on a single website about IV.
We don't have a paid sales person or PR person.
Most people aren't aware of realities.

I know it seems weird to ask for donations to help those who are benefiting....but every non-profit organisation does it....its a good fund raising technique. No reason to feel its beneath IV to ask its own members to donate...i say go ahead of that and stick posters in Indian stores asking for donation but thats just my opinion ;)

IV had brought in hundreds of T - shirts to hand out. We were giving them out to everyone with a request to contribute on the web site. When we were out,
one of our volunteers, Kaushal, I think (don't know iv handle), he took out his own IV tshirt and gave it away!!
Another thing, I want to thank all the volunteer(s) who were asked to stay back to take care of the origin point and couldn't march in the rally.

We are on the same boat. I'm wondering if there are any successful cases where CSPA and the Patriot Act were combined to ensure that the child remains under 21? My son's name has been deleted from the derivative beneficiary's list, however, he can remain eligible under this I-130 F-4 petition if the Consular calculate his age with Patriot Act 45 days. In that case, he can benefit from CSPA. Our case details as below:

Just received Card production e-mail for me and wife. Had pretty tough time last few weeks thinking what could have gone wrong as my PD is MAY 15 with everything clear. After waiting a while, 3/4 days ago I had infopass and went to Congressman for help.
Though we are happy but can feel how tough it is to wait and wait....but I assure you all will get it soon, but take action as your intution says as you KNOW YOUR CASE BETTER THAN OTHERS. So take help if you think there is no question of RFE or delay is longer than ususal. Thank you IV and all members. I will contribute, as many of you did after getting it, and stay in touch with forums for anything I can be of assistance.

Those whose PDs are getting close to the spillover time have time to waste on the forum on useless discussions. Others are busy in advocacy day and contributing. I would not be surprised that these antiIV folks will turn anti-immigrants once they get their greencards. They will not want more people to get greencards after them and compete with them and their children in job market.

most companies either want to hire contractors or outsource work so your statement "about real jobs for real employers" is not correct. The people working as contractors are infact working on real jobs for real US employers. Not many companies are willing to hire people on H1 on a full time basis because of all the costs associated with the H1 processing not to mention the paper work. They want to contract employees in general and not give full time jobs. If desi bodyshops are punished this way, then all of us will also be punished. and thats exactly what Ron hira wants.
