On USCIS status, it says.." On October 11, 2007, we received this I485..." .
Processing time for TSC is Aug07.. Does this mean my case will not processed now?

This looks good. However, I think "suggestion" part of this document needs a little bit more elaboration and more specific highlighting of the fact.
Also, not sure. Does this need a bill in congress or admin change? Maybe we discussed this before. The reason for asking is, if it should come from congress, we need to put in more efforts. If its an admin change / fix, I think its a bit easier.

I got the CPO email just now.. i'm not sure if it's because of the SR that my wife opened on Friday evening or it just happened without that.. but anyways it's a relief now.. i also see a lot of people getting cpo emails today.. btw, just curious, does the cpo stage come before "approved" status or after it?
now hope that i receive the card in time.. will post about its validity and start date once i receive it. (i'll be current for the month of September as my pd is july 06)

Dont worry,once you got CPO mails..normally you should receive the card in/after 5-10 business days..Hopefully with 2yr EAD..as you are not current this mnth right..keep hope!!

Yes, do I-485 yourself, if you see your case is straightforward (not H1B transfer, ...). It is totall doable . We need an attorney for Lc. The I-485 form is much simpler, and, you are independent. Just download the form from USCIS website then follow the instructions. I regret of spending $2K for my attorney. I actually completed the form and they just send it. I recall to see one website they provide the service to check the filled legal forms.

Here is the reality: The thread is 2 years old and we have not had a group of motivated folks who could commit both time and money for this. In the last 2 years thousands have read this thread and have got greencard, but after getting greencard most people have different priorities in life. Writing posts on the forum asking IV to work on it will not get anything done on this issue. Nobody else will do anything unless those who seriously want to work on it commit their time and money for it.
They need to be going to fund raisers of lawmakers and contributing to election campaigns etc as a first step to lobbying. We need to see IV green card and citizen members doing this more regularly anyways to help others in line behind them and get more politically active.

This is not going to be an effort for a few month or days but will take several years. After you form a team, the next task would be gather as many people as you can who want to work on this issue and wish to meet lawmakers. You will also need start-up money to work on this effort. This effort is not as simple as fixing green card backlogs. If we are thinking working on this effort will be as simple as writing emails, then it will not be worth spending time. Be prepared to personally go and meet lawmakers in both your area and DC every couple of months. IV core team has been making trips to DC every month for past 4 years and only then we have been able to bring our issue in focus.
Citizenship rule change would change the INA and would require lot of support from H1B community, Greencard holders and citizens. It would require lot of funds too. Be ready to contribute your own funds (not hundreds but more than that to start) to run advocacy tasks. IV site is just a platform with a web-forum, but the real work that costs money is daily advocacy operations. Running is site is not expensive. Once the effort gains momentum, you can raise from IV forums from other Greencard members as a separate pool just like we did for FOIA.
At this time IV does not have the bandwidth or resources to work on this issue. Our primary focus is fixing greencard backlogs so that our members are out of the Greencard Queue. We started this organization for this purpose and we wish to finish what we started before we take on any new effort. Even though some core team members have Greencards, we are all committed to work on Greencard backlogs and will not work on other agenda items in our limited time. It will have to be a parallel team within IV that can work on this issue. IV team can guide as needed but we simply cannot divide our limited time and resources on a new effort.

As I was saying in the previous posts, many big corps have not filed for new labors in FY'08, FY'09 which should free up many ROW visas. This should help EB3 in the near future.

NSC. 485 filed during the july'07 and rcvd date was in aug'07, notice date was in sept'07. For me start to end time was 5yrs. First job, single LC, i140, 485 appln...Kind of straight-forward (boring ;) ) case.

you are correct, those petitions from academia/non-profit are not counted against the cap, also they enjoy the benefit of being able to start working as soon as it get approved as against the other H1b where u have to wait till october if you are filing for the first time.

I have applied for birth certificate at Indian Consulate, SFO and received from them. They simply attested the information on my Passport on their letter head..will that be sufficient or I should get it from MRO/etc from India?
The birth certificate you get from the Consulate is not sufficient for I-485. If you don't have a birth certificate from the Municipal corporation of the city where you were born: then you need a Non-Availability certificate from that Municipal Corporation + 2 affidavits from close relatives.
Check with your lawyer for more information.

There are more than enough applications waiting to be approved than the visa number available for ROW this year. It will move backwards to 2004 date in October when visa number for 2009 will be available.
Remember, PERM started in March of 2005, and there are floods of LCs with PD > March' 2005. It will take 2/3 years before it can move beyond 2005.
Does anyone can predict what will be the cut-off date for EB-3 ROW during the months July to September ? Will it proceed, stop moving or even it could be retrogressed ? what will be the OCT 2008 cut-off date ?

Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids
Measles
Pertussis
Rubella
Hepatitis B
Most of these can be done in couple of days but the Hepatitis B takes about six months. There are 3 shots which needs to be spread out to six months. If you need this one, then this is the time to do it.
